The Necklace I Wore to My Wedding — June 1988

Vintage 1980s conch shell and mother-of-pearl necklace set with matching earrings

Some pieces are hard to let go of. This is one of them.

It was June 1988 in Las Vegas — and it was hot. We got married in the same chapel where my parents had said their vows, and I wore this necklace to do it.

This creamy ivory necklace and earring set is a classic 1980s parure — a matched set featuring graduated ivory beads with conch shell beads cut from the center of the shell, showing off their signature pink and cream spiral pattern. Gold-tone spacers lead to the centerpiece: a large, luminous oval mother-of-pearl pendant — genuinely impressive in size, with gorgeous natural iridescence that catches the light from every angle. It's a statement piece. It's also delicate, and deserves to be treated as such.

The matching drop earrings complete the set perfectly and are in excellent condition.

I've held onto it for a long time. But I believe jewelry is meant to be worn, and I hope it finds someone who will love it as much as I did on that sweltering June day.
