The Necklace That Almost Wasn't: Inside the Making of the Grande Luxe Multi-Strand Celebration Set

Close-up detail of the Grande Luxe Multi-Strand Celebration Set — freshwater pearls, champagne crystals, rhinestone rondelles and gold metallic beads on navy velvet

Some pieces come together easily. This was not one of them.

The Grande Luxe Multi-Strand Celebration Statement Set took more than three days to make — and there were moments I wasn't sure it would survive the process. The glue spilled. The clasp got stuck. And on the worst night, the main holding thread snapped, sending hours of careful beading into chaos.

But it was salvageable. And I knew it had to be, because this piece had something from the very beginning — that quality you can feel before a project is finished, the one that tells you keep going.

So I did.

What's Inside

Five strands of carefully chosen materials, each one selected to catch light differently:

  • Genuine freshwater baby pearls — small, organic, luminous
  • Large cream and ivory simulated pearls — classic and substantial
  • Gold and silver metallic beads — the glint between the soft tones
  • Faceted crystal beads in clear, champagne, and smoky — the sparkle
  • Two-tone rhinestone rondelle spacers — white and yellow gold plated edging that ties it all together
  • Opalescent and moonstone beads — the quiet magic, the glow you notice on second look

The finished set — necklace and earrings together — weighs a full seven ounces. You feel it when you put it on. That weight is real craftsmanship.

The Earrings

The hook earrings echo the necklace perfectly: champagne crystal, opalescent bead, freshwater pearl, and a rhinestone rondelle drop on gold plated hooks. About 1.5 inches of drop — enough to move, enough to catch light.

Five Ways to Wear It

This is where the Grande Luxe earns its name. One necklace, five completely different looks:

  1. Clasp at the back — classic elegance, the way most necklaces are meant to be worn
  2. Clasp at the front — the toggle becomes a decorative focal point
  3. Clasp to the side — asymmetric and fashion-forward
  4. Draped long — flowing and layered, hits below the collarbone
  5. Torsade twisted — dramatic and structured, sits at the base of the throat

The torsade is my favorite. Twisted tight, all those strands compress into something that looks completely different from the draped version — structured, bold, almost architectural.

On Handmade

People sometimes ask why handcrafted jewelry costs more than mass-produced pieces. The Grande Luxe is the answer. Three-plus days of work. A thread that broke and had to be rebuilt. A clasp that fought back. A glue spill that could have ended it.

Every bead on this necklace was placed by hand. Every strand was tensioned, tested, and retested. The finish on the wire wrapping around that gold toggle clasp — you can see it in the photos, clean and intentional — that's the kind of detail that doesn't happen by accident.

One of a Kind

There is exactly one. Priced at $145 for the full set. When it's gone, it's gone — and this one won't be here long.
