Vintage Graduated White Shell Chip Necklace — Natural Bib Effect, Screw Clasp, 24", Early 1980s
Small at the back. Wild at the front. That's the whole design.
This vintage 24-inch necklace is strung on a single strand of natural white shell chips that graduate dramatically from small, uniform flat pieces at the back to large, irregular, fringe-like chips at the front center — creating a lush, organic bib effect that is entirely structural, entirely natural, and completely striking.
The chips are bright white with subtle natural texture variation — no two are identical, and the graduation from delicate to dramatic is seamless. The screw clasp is classic vintage hardware, secure and period-appropriate.
Travel-acquired in the early 1980s, when graduated shell chip necklaces of this quality were being made and sold across Pacific Island and coastal craft markets.
